South Gloucestershire Senior Youth Music Centre

Monday night is music night for many of South Gloucestershire’s most accomplished young musicians. The role of the Senior Music Centre is to take players to an advanced level with their music making by rehearsing, performing and expanding their musical experiences with expert guidance from professional musicians and educators.

For more information about joining the Senior Music Centre, click here.

The South Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra, South Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra and South Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra are the backbone of the Senior Music Centre but there are additional opportunities for chamber groups and solo features. You can check below for our full performance diary of local and national concerts and festival appearances. The Senior Centre year culminates in a concert at a major local venue. In 2018 they performed at Oatley Hall and the programme included a performance of Mozart’s 3rd Horn concerto given by Concerto Soloist winner, Alannah Shaw who is off to study at the Royal Scottish conservatoire in the autumn.

The Wind Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra have both appeared at the National Festival of Music for Youth giving a stunning performances in Symphony Hall, and the Town Hall Birmingham and in November 2016 all members of Senior Centre performed at the MfY Proms in the Royal albert Hall.
